A beautiful and historic brick walled factory repurposed as a feel-good community space and performance stage.
With roots dating as far back as 1814, the Stangl Factory has been a staple of the community long before it was actually trying to be one. Within its first 100 years the factory switched hands many times, initially producing stoneware, pottery or dinnerware under the domain Stangl Pottery. Eventually becoming a hot tourist attraction due to its high-quality pottery products from rough 1930 until 1978, when Stangl Pottery ceases production. Now, years later, its legacy lives on with the location operating as a community space and hub for local businesses. Stangl hosts year-round farmers’ markets every Saturday, including locally sourced vegetables, meats and desserts, as well as non-edible offerings such as handmade baskets, turned wood, local soaps and hand turned yarn. But the commitment to giving back and communal gifts extends well past the weekend, with pottery classes hosted by Kissimmee River Pottery, art galleries composed from Kev Von Holtermann’s acrylic works, physical therapy and yoga via A Life In Balance, great food and coffee from the ever popular Blue Fish Grill and Factory Fuel Co, and even mediation and psychic readings thanks to the Knowing. However, Stangl’s frequent live performances and support of the local music scene that has truly cemented it as a favorite in the community. From famed acts such as David Bromberg to Springsteen tribute bands – Stangl Stage offers something for everyone’s ears.
“We set out to develop a communal space that highlights Flemington’s diverse beauty and interests and we accomplished that. We wanted a spark and it caught fire right away.”
